In order to implement the joint portal the State Archives of the Novgorod Region revealed and digitized documents containing information on citizens of Finnish ethnic origin who lived on the territory of the Novgorod province and region over a period of 1878-1946.

Documents illustrate the intention to organize a Finnish school in the village of Gorki, the Novgorod province, in 1920s and migration of ethnic Finns to the Novgorod region in 1940s. The collections of the Archives also contain information on foreigners who lived in the Novgorod province.

The National Archives of Finland also has a collection of photostats obtained from the National Archives of Sweden which contains 16 boundary maps of Novgorod and Sweden (1617, 1649–1650, and 1652–1653). Photostats do not fulfil technical requirements of digitization. They are available for research at the microfilm reading room at the National Archives of Finland.
