Every year, Santa receives hundreds of thousands of letters from all over the world and each year Santa's main post office in Rovaniemi, Finland hands over a carefully selected sample of the letters to the Provincial Archives of Oulu for archiving.
On 1 December 2015, children and also somewhat older people will have the opportunity to read these archived letters in the very own advent calendar of Santa's archives. The doors of the online calendar can be opened at the same time in all corners of the world (at midnight Finnish time).
Santa's archives in the Provincial Archives of Oulu contain thousands of letters addressed to Santa from all over the world. In them, children talk about their life and wishes and present questions about Santa, the elves and Santa's reindeer. The letters with their colourful illustrations are fun to read and sometimes children have included photos of themselves and their families. In addition to Finland, most letters to Santa are sent from the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy, France, Lithuania and Poland.
It is Christmas every day at Santa's main post office located on the Arctic Circle in Santa Claus Village. From there, you can send your greetings stamped with Santa's official postmark and buy souvenirs from Santa to your friends. The post office is staffed with happy and industrious post office elves.
